Dusty Rose Gang – A-One from Day One – Detroit Rock that Kicks [Review]

Dusty Rose Gang - A-One from Day One

Dropping on 16 May 2025, this debut album from the Detroit rock band Dusty Rose Gang caught my attention by accident. Within a few seconds, I knew my mistake uncovered something interesting

Each week, I browse the new albums on Apple Music and Tidal. I have not yet adopted the one track per band playlist flow of sound, I still listen to entire albums from start to finish. This is where I get my new music fix each week.

This week wasn’t particularly bountiful, and as I was scrolling, I accidentally clicked on this album cover, and it started playing.

The sound that came out of my speakers was a mixture of familiar and unique, like an entree reimagined by a brilliant chef. At first listen, the sound was good.

So I played the whole album. Twice.

Weighing in at eight songs tracking just over 31 minutes of play time, this LP is approachable and digestible. A really great debut album, one of the best the rock genre has enjoyed in a long time.

I’m not sure if the Detriot rock scene will blow up like we’ve seen with other regional rock sounds in the past, but if it does, you’ll be able to trace the roots of success for the sound to the Dusty Rose Gang.
